Review the work and both perspectives
Talk with the founder and marketer, examine the brief, plans, outputs, results, and requests that shaped the working week. Where relevant, include sales or another stakeholder.
First Marketing Hire Reset
You hired someone to move marketing forward, and you’re disappointed with the progress. I look at the work, hear from you both and help you work out what needs to change. Then we put the first changes into practice.
Guide price: €3,500–€5,000 for six weeks.
See the scope, timing and payment terms. Excludes VAT where applicable and external costs.
The marketer has started, but priorities keep changing, results are hard to judge, or the working relationship is strained. It also fits when the previous marketer has left and you want to understand what happened before hiring again.
The work
Talk with the founder and marketer, examine the brief, plans, outputs, results, and requests that shaped the working week. Where relevant, include sales or another stakeholder.
Distinguish a direction problem from missing capability, limited capacity, inadequate resources, or unclear authority. Recommend the changes the evidence supports, including when the role or person needs to change.
Agree revised priorities, stop decisions, responsibilities, and progress measures. Help implement the first changes, then review what happens.
The founder and marketer both need space to explain their view and a willingness to examine the work. We agree who else needs to participate and what decisions the founder must make.
If the previous hire has left, we review the failure before defining a replacement. A replacement is different from adding a second marketer; the service starts with what needs to change.
Scope, involvement, timing, and fees are set out in a written proposal.
One way this could look
Suppose the campaign keeps giving way to decks and website requests. We’d look at why those requests keep winning, choose a priority together and agree when it should move. We’d also examine the campaign itself: a protected place on the calendar won’t help if the work needs improving.
The core engagement connects role definition, candidate assessment, and practical support after your first marketer starts.
A conversation is a good place to start.
Tell me what you want marketing to take off your plate
and where you are with the hire.
We’ll start with a 20–25-minute conversation.
